Good news for Nigerians as FG orders NCC to reduce cost of data

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami has urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to work out modalities for the reduction of the price of data in the interest of Nigerians.

According to reports, Pantami said that his office has been inundated with complaints from concerned Nigerians about the high cost of data by telecoms.

Pantami mandated the management of the NCC led by its Board Chairman, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, during a courtesy visit to work out the modalities with other stakeholders in the industry in the next five working dates.

The Minister said: ”I am urging the management of NCC to work towards reducing the price of data in Nigeria. It is too costly and people are complaining every day.

If you go to other countries, even countries that are not as largely populated as Nigeria, data prices are not this high.

I am also a victim of some of the infractions that are so common in the industry. You load your data, but you barely used 20 percent of it and the entire data is wiped off.”

FG suspends Pastor Adeboye’s helicopter from flying, gives reason for action

  The NCAA is conducting an investigation on the airworthiness of a private helicopter belonging to Pastor Enoch Adeboye - The religious leader will not be allowed to use the chopper pending the ongoing investigation - - The NCAA is a government agency charged with making laws to ensure safety of the Nigerian airspace. A private helicopter belonging to Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church (RCCG) has reportedly been grounded at the Lagos airport by the Nigerian government through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).  According to investigations by The Sunday Punch, the aircraft, AgustaWestland AW139 chopper, with registration number 5N-EAA, was suspended from flying over two weeks ago.  The NCAA reportedly imposed the suspension on the chopper over the alleged expiration of some of its papers and spare parts.  The publication stated that the agency intends to conduct vital safety checks on the aircraft’s components, especially some spare part...
